NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 19, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming team celebrated senior day at the Knight Natatorium against the University of New England on Saturday afternoon. UNE won the meet 152-85.

RESULTS

Prior to the meet, Colby-Sawyer seniors Bethany Fennessey (Windham, N.H.), Maddy Hunter (Farmington, Conn.), Meghan O'Connell (Enfield, N.H.), Meagan Thomsen (Gorham, Maine) and Rachel Zalenski (Chicopee, Mass.) were honored for their dedication and contributions to the swim program. 

First-year Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.) stole the show on Saturday as she set a 200 butterfly record. Brown clocked in at 2:26.23 to win the event and break the previous mark of 2:27.00 set in 2006 by Colby-Sawyer Hall of Famer Signe Linville '06.

The day got off to a great start as the 200 medley relay team of Thomsen, Fennessey, Brown and sophomore Jinnae Jang (Fall River, Mass.) came in first at 2:02.67.

Jang added a win in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 35.05. She also placed second in the 200 backstroke in 2:24.43.

Fennessey finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:28.76) and the 500 freestyle (6:41.83).

Thomsen came away with second place in the 50 butterfly with a time of 30.59, just .3 off the pace.

The day ended the way it began, with another relay victory. The 200 freestyle team of Thomsen, sophomore Zoe Daudier (Milford, N.H.), Brown and Jang combined for a time of 1:49.88 to take the top spot.  

The Chargers will travel to Gordon next Saturday for a final tune-up prior to the GNAC Championships beginning on February 1.
