Johnson & Wales Outlasts Men's Soccer, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – September 19, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday.

The Chargers dip to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The team returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match with Lasell. JWU improves to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the GNAC. 

The lone goal of the match came from JWU's Nick Gutekunst. In the 12th minute, Gutekunst was able to find the back of the net with a shot from the top of the box that slightly deflected off a Colby-Sawyer defender.

Shane Sacks finish with three saves for Colby-Sawyer. Nicholas Mancini made two stops for JWU to earn his fifth victory of the season. 

The Wildcats edged the Chargers in shots, 11-7, and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
