KENTS HILL, Maine - April 7, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team topped UMaine-Farmington, 15-2, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Kents Hill School on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the NAC. Colby-Sawyer will remain in Maine to play at Husson on Sunday at 1 p.m. UMF falls to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Colby-Sawyer began the action by scoring the first six goals of the contest. UMF was able to get two back before the end of the half, but the Chargers took a 6-2 lead after 30 minutes. Colby-Sawyer pulled away in the second half to outscore the home team 9-0 en route to the 15-2 win. The Chargers had a 38-22 advantage in shots and 32-23 edge in ground balls.
Nicole Lavigne led all players with six goals for the Chargers. She added three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control. She is now one goal behind second place all-time and three behind Brittney Murphy's '12 program leading 200 career goals.
Briana Couture and
Talia Dinger scored two goals apiece while
Grace Vosburgh,
Sierra Schuster,
Sarah Morin,
Carli Chiodo, and
Bailey Starr each scored a goal for Colby-Sawyer. Jamie Wood and
Mattie Iaria led the team with four ground balls apiece.
Carly Raymond and Sierra Gilley each scored a goal for the Beavers while Raymond tallied three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Keilly Lynch had three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Kailyn Lapham allowed just two goals and made 12 saves in the win for Colby-Sawyer. UMF goalie Heather Boland had 14 stops in the loss.
