BANGOR, Maine - April 8, 2018 - Colby-Sawyer senior
Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) scored four goals to become the program's all-time leader in career goals with 201 in today's 10-8 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss at Husson University.
Lavigne became the second Charger to reach the 200-goal milestone alongside previous career goal record holder Brittney Murphy '12. Lavigne notched her 200th goal six minutes into the second half to tie Murphy and then became the all-time leader with goal 201 at the 21:17 mark. Lavigne led the team with four goals, an assist, and six draw controls.
Colby-Sawyer drops to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the NAC. The Chargers will host New England College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Husson improves to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
Brittany Ireland scored twice and added an assist, while
Sierra Schuster and
Grace Vosburgh each scored once.
Bailey Starr added five draw controls and four ground balls.
Courtney Lampert picked up a team best five ground balls.
Lavigne opened the game with a goal less than two minutes into play. The game's next goal came 10 minutes later off the stick of Amanda Deshaies. The teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the first half. The Eagles held a two-goal lead with less than four minutes to go, but Colby-Sawyer received two scores from Ireland to send the game into halftime tied at 5-5.
Colby-Sawyer took a 7-5 lead with two goals from Lavigne in the first six minutes of the second half. A Cali Newton goal pulled Husson within one, but Lavigne scored again to put the Chargers back in front by a deuce. Unfortunately, that would be the last time Colby-Sawyer would score as Husson tallied four-straight goals in the final 19 minutes to escape with the 10-8 victory.
Paige Daigle and Makenna Mont scored three times, while Deshaies and Cali Newton added two goals apiece to account for Husson's goals.
Kailyn Lapham made 11 saves in the loss, while Mallory Burchill had eight stops for Husson.
