Chargers Power Past Thomas, 19-2

NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 31, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team earned a 19-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Thomas College on Saturday afternoon at the Sally Shaw Veitch Turf Field

Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the NAC. The Chargers travel to Lyndon on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. contest with the Hornets. Thomas drops to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the NAC. The Terriers host Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Monday at 6 p.m.

The home team raced out to an 11-0 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game and led 15-2 at the half. The Chargers added four more scores in the second to pick up the 19-2 victory under sunny skies in New London.

Senior Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) recorded a team best nine points on six goals and three assists today. Lavigne is now tied for second with Jesse Wilfert '03 for second most career points with 231. Junior Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) scored four times, while junior Brittany Ireland (Amherst, N.H.) and freshman Sarah Morin (Pelham, N.H.) added two goals apiece. Also scoring twice was freshman Talia Dinger (Penacook, N.H.) who recorded her first collegiate goals. Freshman Mattie Iaria (Hingham, Mass.) led all players with three caused turnovers.

Thomas received goals from sophomore Alexis Felch (Laconia, N.H.) and senior Kimberly Banks (Swan's Island, Maine). Sophomore Darrian Leonardi (Thomaston, Maine) picked up a team best three ground balls.

Sophomore Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) finished with six stops for the Chargers to earn her fifth victory of the season. Sophomore Sydni Collier (Oakland, Maine) had five saves in the loss.
