Baseball Drops Two to MCLA

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 15, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to MCLA at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida. The Trailblazers won by scores of 6-1 and 2-0. 

Colby-Sawyer dips to 2-6 and will wrap up its Florida trip with a twin bill against Beloit tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. MCLA improves to 5-2 and will play two against UMaine-Farmington tomorrow. 

GAME ONE - MCLA 6, COLBY-SAWYER 1

MCLA got on the board in the first inning as Jeff Bink collected the first of his three RBI's scoring Christian Seariac with a single to center for an early 1-0 lead. 

The Trailblazers added two more in the third as Bink had an RBI triple and came around on a throwing error.

Colby-Sawyer's lone run came off the bat of Drew Inglesi in the fourth inning who recorded an RBI groundout.

MCLA doubled its lead in the sixth to secure the 6-1 victory.

Liam Nolan tossed a complete game and scattered six hits to earn the win for MCLA. 

Ryan Glendye threw his second-straight complete game to begin the season, but was saddle with the loss. 

Seniors Dougie Avellino and Andrew Pratt each had two hits to lead Colby-Sawyer. 

GAME TWO - MCLA 2, COLBY-SAWYER 0

MCLA scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Brett LaBonte's RBI single scored Bill Pulasky with the game's first run. Jeff Bink then drove in the second run in the fifth with a double to left field making it 2-0.  

Pulasky and Ben Durland each collected a pair of hits to lead the offense.

MCLA's Bobby New tossed a complete game shutout allowing just three hits and striking out eight to lead the Trailblazers. He also finished with three pick-offs.

Freshman Noah Yeingst pitched well for the Chargers. He went the distance with two runs allowed and three strikeouts. 

Avellino had a double to account for one of the three Colby-Sawyer hits.
