AUBURNDALE, Fla.- March 12, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team fell to Keene State, 12-7, at the Lake Myrtle Complex on Monday evening.
Keene improves to 3-2, while the Chargers drop to 2-3. Colby-Sawyer will have Tuesday off before returning to action on Wednesday with a 12:30 p.m. first pitch against Anderson on Wednesday.Â
David Sevigny was 2-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored, and two walks, and Nate Rossi was 2-for-5 with three RBI.  Connor Walsh, John Tarascio, and Tom Meucci all had two hits apiece. Tyler Fitzgerald (1-0) earned the win with 1.2 innings of perfect relief with three strikeouts.
Charlie Danaher led the Chargers with three hits and three RBI.
Brendan Thurber also had three hits, while
Dougie Avellino added a pair out of the leadoff spot.Â
The Chargers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, getting an RBI single from Danaher and a sacrifice fly from
Tim Unczur. Keene State tied the game in the bottom of the second, with an RBI single from Sevigny and a bases loaded walk from Rossi. The Owls added two more runs in the third inning when Meucci had a 2-RBI double with the bases loaded.
The Chargers rallied to score five runs in the fifth inning, as Danaher drove in a pair of runs with a triple to right-center before scoring himself on a wild pitch. A pair of KSC errors brought in another run, followed by another wild pitch that plated Pratt. Â
The Owls mounted a comeback in the sixth inning with a pair of bases loaded walks to pull Keene within 7-6.Â
Keene knotted the game at 7-7 in the seventh on an RBI single from Rossi.
A five run eighth inning completed the comeback for the Owls. Tim O'Halloran knocked in a pair of runs with a single to left.Â
AJ Cavossa pitched 3.1 innings of relief for the Chargers and collected five strikeouts.Â
