Women's Basketball Takes Regular Season Finale at Johnson, 68-43

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball wrapped up the regular season with a 68-43 road win at Johnson State College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.

Colby-Sawyer improves its record to 20-5 overall and 15-3 in the NAC to secure the second seed and a first round bye in the NAC Tournament. The Chargers recorded a 20-win season for the first time since 2012-13, when the team last one a NAC Championship. The Badgers finish the season 3-22 overall and 2-16 in the NAC. 

Tianna Sugars led the Chargers with her 12th double-double of the season. She scored 21 points and grabbed 10 boards to go with four blocks. Emmani Robinson added 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Amanda Calvo also reached double figures with 10 points. 

Johnson was led by Mariah Ramos' 12 points. 

The Chargers got out to an early lead in the first quarter, but Johnson battled back to tie the game at 12-12 after 10 minutes. 

The game was tightly contested for the first few minutes of the second before Colby-Sawyer used a 10-2 run to take a 29-21 lead with a minute and a half left in the half. Ramos cut the lead back down to six with a jump shot and the Chargers took a 29-23 lead into the break.

Colby-Sawyer created separation in the third quarter, doubling up the Badgers 20-10 in the quarter to take a 49-33 lead into the final quarter.

The Chargers kept their distance, outscoring Johnson by five in the fourth to take the 68-43 victory.

Colby-Sawyer outrebounded Johnson 46-33 and scored 29 points off of 22 Badger miscues.
