STANDISH, Maine - October 6, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swim team began the 2018-19 campaign with a meet at Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers fell to the Monks 132-112.
RESULTS
In her first individual collegiate race,
Kelsey Brown came away with the victory in the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:08.51. She later added wins in the 100 backstroke (1:06.96) and the 200 IM (2:26.08).
Jinnae Jang picked up where she left off last season, with an impressive 2018-19 debut. She won the 50 backstroke (29.75), the 100 butterfly (1:07.42) and the 50 butterfly (28.89) by large margins.
Meagan Thomsen also posted a win on Saturday. She touched the wall .05 seconds before the second place finisher with a winning time of 1:02.58.
In the 100 breaststroke, Colby-Sawyer's
Bethany Fennessey earned first place points with a time of 1:23.54.
Rachel Zalenski added a second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 31.13.
The Chargers will return to the pool next Sunday at Keene State.
