BOSTON, Mass. - October 20, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 3-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory at Emmanuel Saturday afternoon. The Chargers won by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-8.
The Chargers improve to 17-9 overall and 8-2 in the GNAC. The team will host a pair of non-conference matches against Middlebury and Plymouth State before wrapping up GNAC regular season play next Saturday at home against Anna Maria and Norwich. Emmanuel drops to 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the GNAC.
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) led the Chargers with 15 kills, while
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) added 14. Cox also collected a pair of solo blocks to pass current assistant coach and Colby-Sawyer Hall of Famer
Michelle Doody '11 with 62 for her career. She also had an impressive nine block assists in the match.
Maddie Bromley (Truckee, Calif.) was the third Charger to post double digit kills with 10. She added 11 digs. First-year setter
Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) dished out a season-high 47 assists and added 20 digs. Junior
Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) posted a season-high 32 digs. First-year
Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) finished with eight kills with five of them coming in the fifth set.
Mary Shelow led all players with a career-high 24 kills for the Saints, while sophomore Marissa Cataldo added 12 kills in the defeat. EC senior setter Carly Church matched her career-high with 42 helpers. Katharine Journeay led Emmanuel with 24 digs.
