FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - September 16, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball split a pair of matches on Saturday at Framingham State. The Chargers fell to Western New England 3-0, but rebounded with a 3-1 win over the host Rams.
The Chargers go to 3-8 and will host nationally ranked MIT on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Western New England improved to 5-6, while Framingham State fell to 3-7.
WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 3, COLBY-SAWYER 0 - 25-23, 25-17, 25-7
The Chargers were led by seven kills and two blocks from sophomore
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.), while junior
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) added four kills and seven digs. Sophomore
Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, NY) recorded 11 digs, while
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, NH) added 11 assists.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, FRAMINGHAM STATE 1 - 24-26, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21
Colby-Sawyer was paced by a match-best and career-high 18 kills from Murray. She added 12 digs. Cox also reached double figures in kills with 12 and added three solo blocks. Goodrich recorded 44 assists and 10 digs, while
Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) tallied 17 digs and a match best four aces.
