CASTINE, Maine - September 16, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory at Maine Maritime in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will host intrastate rival New England College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Mariners fall to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the NAC. Maine Maritime will host Thomas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Each side took five shots in the first half, but neither could find the back of the net to send the match into halftime tied at 0-0.
The Chargers broke through 8:26 into the second frame when sophomore
Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) finished a pass from junior teammate
Amanda Martin (Amesbury, Mass.).
Less than 10 minutes later the Chargers struck again, adding an insurance goal, this time Martin picked up a goal of her own to make it 2-0 off a feed from junior
Maddie Chamard (Portsmouth, R.I.).

Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) tallied four saves to pick up her second clean sheet of the season. Mariners goalie Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) recorded three saves in the loss.
