WESTON, Mass. - September 13, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team fell at Regis (Mass.) on Wednesday night. The Pride won by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-17.
Regis improves to 2-7 while the Chargers drop to 2-7.
Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, N.Y.) shared team-high honors with eight kills while also leading her squad with nine digs.
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) ran the offense for the Chargers and posted a match-high 24 assists. Lahiff posted five kills for the Chargers with
Nicole Olivieri (Salem, N.H.) adding three kills and four digs.
Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) and Sydney Trusty (Durham, Conn.) provided the offense for the Pride, each collecting nine kills. Trusty also added a match high 13 digs.
The Chargers led 9-7 in the opening set, but the Pride used a 4-0 spurt to regain the lead.
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) kept the Chargers close with four kills down the stretch, but Regis went on for the 25-21 victory.
Set two saw Regis erase a three-point deficit midway through with an 8-1 spurt to take a 17-13 lead. Kills by Straubel, Murray and later by
Alli Lahiff (Haverhill, Mass.) kept Colby-Sawyer within striking distance, but it was solid net play by Trusty that lifted the Pride to the 25-21 win.
Regis went on for a 21-17 third set win using a couple of short runs to create separation.
