NORTHFIELD, Vt. - April 14, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team trailed 6-3 after five innings, but came back with three runs in the seventh and ninth innings to defeat Norwich 9-6 on Friday afternoon.
The Chargers have won four straight to improve to 12-8. Colby-Sawyer will resume conference action on Monday with a home doubleheader against Castleton. Norwich dips to 6-16 and will host Rivier for two games tomorrow.
Colby-Sawyer scored a run in its first at-bat on a sac fly from senior
Justin Devoid. The Chargers added a second run in the top of the third when sophomore
Liam Datres de la Blotier knocked in Devoid with a single to center field.
The Cadets got the bats going in the bottom half of the third and scored five times. Matt Sirois had a run-scoring single to begin the rally for Norwich. He then came around on a two-run homer from Andrew Fisher. Norwich added two more runs on RBI singles from Billy Whaley and Brandon Pedley.
Each team would score a run in the fifth inning to keep the spread at three runs. Senior
Jackson Musco had an RBI double that scored Devoid for the Chargers, while LaShawn Thomas had a sac fly in the bottom half for Norwich.
Colby-Sawyer scored three times in the top of the seventh to knot the score at 6-6. The Chargers benefited from multiple Norwich miscues in the inning with junior

The Chargers completed the rally with three runs in the top of the ninth to go ahead 9-6. After Datres de la Blotier reached on a walk and Musco singled, freshman
Tim Unczur knocked them both in on a double to right field. Unczur then scored on a wild pitch.

Andrew Carbone pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth to earn his second save in as many days.

Connor Henry earned the win after 5.1 innings of relief. Andrew Fisher suffered the loss for the Cadets.

Joey Fenuccio recorded a team best three hits for the Chargers. Musco, Datres de la Blotier and Avellino finished with two hits apiece.
