Colby-Sawyer Baseball Topped by Stockton, 5-4

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - March 13, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team fell to Stockton, 5-4, at the Chain O'Lakes Complex on Monday afternoon in the first meeting between the two teams. 

The Chargers drop to 2-3 and will resume action on Wednesday with a twin bill against Lelsey at Henley Field in Lakeland, Florida. Stockton improves to 5-2. 

Juniors Andrew Pratt (Sharon, Maine) and Tim Donovan (Litchfield, N.H.) led the Chargers with three hits apiece. Junior Doug Avellino (Woodstock, Vt.) and freshman Tim Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) added two hits apiece. Freshman AJ Cavossa (Foxborough, Mass.) notched his first collegiate hit. Senior Jake Greaney (Groveland, Mass.) tossed an impressive eight innings on the mound and gave up just three earned runs. Junior Andrew Carbone (Lynnfield, Mass.) pitched a hitless ninth inning. 

JJ Swentkowski contributed two hits and an RBI for Stockton, while Joe Pipher scored twice and had a double. Freshman Nick Maglione earned the win after going the first six innings with 10 hits and four runs. Junior Alex Humes got the save with three scoreless innings.
 
Colby-Sawyer took the early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first when Jackson Musco (Litchfield, N.H.) scored a wild pitch and senior Justin Devoid (Quechee, Vt.) came around on a Tim Unczur single.

Stockton got on the board in the top of the third as Morello doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Zach Gustites.

Devoid would come around again in the third on a groundout from Pratt to put the Chargers back in front by two, 3-1.
 
In the top of the fourth, Stockton cut the deficit in half after a Swentkowski RBI single to center. 

The Ospreys took the lead in the fifth with two unearned runs.

Avellino singled to right field with one out in the bottom of the sixth to score Donovan and tie the game at 4-4. 
 
Stockton plated the eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh. Tyler Hobbs hit a two-out triple that scored Gustites and the Ospreys would hang on for the 5-4 victory.
