Frongillo Homers as Baseball Splits with Lesley

LAKELAND, Fla. - March 15, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer and Lesley baseball teams each won a game at Historic Henley Field on a chilly Wednesday. Lesley won the first game 9-6, while Colby-Sawyer took game two 11-7. 

Henley Field was once the home of the Detroit Tigers of the MLB. 

The Chargers go to 3-4 and will play two against MCLA tomorrow in Auburndale with first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Lesley is now 3-2. 

Game One - Lesley 9, Colby-Sawyer 6

After a scoreless top of the first, Lesley plated the game's first run in the bottom half of the inning on a Justin Clark (Chino Hills, Calif.) RBI single up the middle.

Colby-Sawyer responded in the top of the second with RBIs from freshman Tim Unczur (Danvers, Mass.), Ben Lewis (Needham, Mass.) and Doug Avellino (Woodstock, Vt.).
 
The Chargers added to the lead in the third with a two-run homerun by senior Nathan Frongillo (Haverhill, Mass.).

Lesley got a run back in the bottom of the third and then scored four runs on five hits and an error in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead. 

Steven DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) knocked in a pair of runs for the Lynx in the fifth and was followed by an RBI single from Ryan Pumphret (Shrewsbury, Mass.) to put Lesley in front 9-5.

Colby-Sawyer got a run back in the seventh on a Joey Fenuccio (Keene, N.H.) single that scored Justin Devoid (Quechee, Vt.), but Lesley came away with a 9-6 win. 

Frongillo finished with three hits, two runs and two RBIs to lead Colby-Sawyer. Devoid added two hits and scored twice. 

Colin Reed (Bedford, N.Y.) earned his first victory of the season, tossing 2.1 innings of relief allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Junior Nick Iadevaio (Mineola, N.Y.) got the save.

Joe Ditullio-Dotto (Medford, Mass.) pitched a perfect 1.1 innings of relief with a strikeout for the Chargers. 

Game Two - Colby-Sawyer 11, Lesley 7

Senior Jackson Musco (Litchfield, N.H.) came across on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first for Colby-Sawyer to opening the scoring in the second game.

The Lynx took advantage of two Charger miscues in the top of the second and took a 4-1 lead.

Colby-Sawyer sent nine men to the plate in the bottom of the second to retake the lead, 5-4. Junior Brady Dion (Sabattus, Maine) knocked in a run on a bases loaded walk, while Musco and Avellino had RBI hits in the frame.  

Avellino plated two more runs for the Chargers in the fourth with a single to left. 

Lesley knotted the game at 7-7 in fifth, scoring three unearned runs.

After the first two Chargers failed to reach base in the bottom of the fifth, junior Drew Inglesi (Franklin, Mass.) earned a walk. Dion then came up with the big hit, knocking Inglesi in from first on a double to the left center gap. Fenuccio then singled in Dion to give Colby-Sawyer a 9-7 lead. 

The Chargers added two runs in the sixth to secure the 11-7 victory. 

Musco tallied three hits, three runs and a pair of stolen bases. Avellino also stole a pair of bases and added two hits with a game best three RBIs. Dion was 1-for-1 with two walks, two runs and two RBI. 

Glendye earned the win after 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed just one hit and struck out two.
