NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 8, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team pulled away in the second half to defeat Johnson State, 71-38, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at the Hogan Sports Center on Wednesday evening.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 15-7 overall and 10-5 in the NAC. The Chargers head to Maine this weekend to play at UMaine-Farmington on Friday and Thomas on Saturday. Johnson State drops to 10-11 overall and 7-8 in the conference. The Badgers play at Lyndon on Saturday.

Lexi Iannone (North Haven, Conn.) led all players with 18 points on 7-of-11. She made four three-pointers to give her 156 career makes and move into sixth on the all-time list. Freshman
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) contributed 15 points and six assists. Junior
Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) was the third Charger in double figures with 10 points off the bench.
Johnson State was led by senior Ashley Goddard (Jamaica, Vt.). She had 10 points and six rebounds. Senior Kasey DeGreenia (Concord, Vt.) was held to five points, but collected game-highs of 11 rebounds and three blocks.
The Badgers held a 6-5 lead midway through the first quarter before Colby-Sawyer finished the frame on a 9-2 run to take a 14-8 lead into the second. Junior
Amanda Calvo (South Deerfield, Mass.) had six points for the Chargers, while DeGreenia pulled down six rebounds.
Colby-Sawyer pushed its lead to 10 points (20-10) with a
Lexie Hamilton layup at 6:15 in the second. The Badgers fought back with an 11-2 run capped by four straight points from senior Sarah Voorhis (Nashua, N.H.) to pull within one (22-21). Colby-Sawyer answered with a trey from Iannone and a layup from Robinson to take a 27-21 lead into the break.
The Chargers pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring Johnson State 22-6 behind 53.4% shooting and strong defense. Colby-Sawyer held the Badgers to 2-of-13 shooting.
Colby-Sawyer doubled the Badgers in the fourth 22-11 to come away with the 71-38 victory.
The Chargers scored 23 points off 22 offensive rebounds and 27 points off 22 Johnson State miscues.
