FARMINGTON, Maine - February 10, 2017 - Freshman
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) scored 22 points on 8-of-11 to help the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team to a 73-38 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at UMaine-Farmington on Friday evening.
The Chargers improve to 16-7 overall and 11-5 in the NAC. Colby-Sawyer stays in Maine for a 3 p.m. tip at Thomas on Saturday. UMF drops to 4-17 overall and 4-11 in the conference. The Beavers host New England College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Hamilton led all players with her impressive shooting display. She went 4-for-4 from three-point land and added five assists and four rebounds.
Lexi Iannone finished with eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Amanda Calvo filled the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists.
UMF was led by Cheyenne Malloy's nine points. Kennadi Grover finished with six points and five rebounds.
The Beavers took the lead at the seven-minute mark after Malloy hit a three followed by Morgan Crocker hitting a free throw to give UMF a 7-5 lead.
Lexie Hamilton hit a three, which put the Chargers up 10-9. The Chargers never looked back after that as they finished the first quarter up 19-11.
Malloy hit a three pointer in the second to pull within seven, but
Lexi Iannone made a layup and the Chargers went on a 17-4 run to close out the half in front 41-19.
The Chargers continued their run in the third by winning the quarter 19-10.
Alex Danas and
Alli Barrett each knocked down a three in the period.
Colby-Sawyer edged the Beavers 13-9 in the final quarter behind four points from
Morgan Fogg to give the Chargers their third straight victory.
