NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team defeated Green Mountain College, 7-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Field.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Thomas and UMaine-Farmington next weekend. Green Mountain drops to 1-10 overall and 0-8 in the NAC. The Eagles will host MCLA on Wednesday.
The Chargers received goals from six different players. Senior
Nitesh Lama (Kathmandu, Nepal) was the lone Colby-Sawyer player to score multiple times as he notched his first collegiate goals.
Senior
Jake Sykes (Laconia, N.H.) got the scoring started at the five minute mark to be credited with a game-winner. Freshman
Ahamad Raji (Lagos, Nigeria), senior
Denali Sexton (Barrington, R.I.) and senior
Mohamed Jafar (Burlington, Vt.) added a goal apiece.
Also scoring for the Chargers was freshman
Ryan Player (Fort Fairfield, Maine) who recorded his first collegiate goal in the 30th minute.
Sexton was credited with two of the team's four assists to give him 30 career helpers, surpassing former teammate
Andrew Clothier '17 for most all-time.
Colby-Sawyer sophomore goalie
Jarod Parkins (North Kingstown, R.I.) made two saves to earn the clean sheet. Green Mountain keeper Griffin Shelor (Cedar Park, Texas) had five saves.
Lucas Krauss (West Rupert, Vt.) led the Eagles with a pair of shots.
