CASTLETON, Vt. - January 12, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball was edged by Castleton, 43-39, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Thursday evening.
Colby-Sawyer has its four game win streak snapped to fall to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Green Mountain on Saturday at 3 p.m. Castleton improves to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Spartans will travel to New England College for a 3 p.m. tip on Saturday.

Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) led all players as she tied a career best 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Senior
Kristin Ellis (South Easton, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Lindsay Sabo was the lone Spartan to reach double figures with 11 points. Amanda Beatty pulled down a team best 11 rebounds.
The Chargers outscored Castleton 15-5 in the first quarter and then added to the lead in the second by winning the frame 8-5 to take a 23-10 lead into the break.
Colby-Sawyer then opened the third with six straight points to take its largest lead of the game at 29-10. Castleton then began chipping away and finished the frame on an 11-2 run to trail 31-21 heading into the final quarter.
The Spartans carried the momentum from the third into the fourth and erupted for 22 points on 57.1% shooting to come away with the 43-39 win. Castleton opened the final frame with seven straight points to cut the deficit to 31-28. Robinson made a jumper for the Chargers before the Spartans rattled off seven more points capped by a Sabo three-pointer to take their first lead since it was 1-0.
Amanda Calvo hit a three-pointer to bring the Chargers within one at 37-36 with 3:03 left, but a pair of layups in the final two minutes secured the victory for Castleton.
