HENNIKER, N.H. – September 24, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team received goals from four different players to defeat New England College, 4-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East action Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer has won at least three straight games for the second time this season and improves to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the NAC East. The Chargers will step out of conference play for a Wednesday game at Rivier. New England College drops to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The home team opened the scoring 2:38 into the game off the stick of Aislinn deHorsey. Colby-Sawyer's
Rachel Fisher began a stretch of four unasnwered goals by the Chargers at 9:33 to tie the game 1-1.
The Chargers took the lead less than two minutes later as
Erika Leach one-timed a nice feed from
Kailyn Lapham.
Ashley Mikkila scored the third Colby-Sawyer goal in a row to give the Chargers a 3-1 lead right before halftime.
Colby-Sawyer extended the lead to 4-1 in the 39th minute as
Alie Jones put in a loose ball in front of the net. NEC got a goal back late in the second half from Brittany Tierney, but Colby-Sawyer held on for the 4-2 win.

Xena Ras earned the win with five saves. NEC goalie Michaela Clark had 24 saves.
