DANBURY, Conn. - September 2, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team dropped a five set thriller to Simmons on the opening night of competition of the 2016 season. Simmons won by scores of 25-15, 22-25, 37-35, 17-25 and 15-10.
The Chargers will look to rebound on Saturday as they continue play at the Western Conn. tournament with matches against the hosts and Saint Joseph's of Long Island.
Senior
Gabrielle Rodriguez was the lone Charger to reach double figures in kills with 16. She added the second most digs on the team with 19. Freshmen
Rebecca Straubel and
Micaela Cardozo collected seven kills apiece, while
Naarah Cox added six kills.
Senior
Elyssa Clairmont registered a double-double of 28 assists and 14 digs.
In her collegiate debut, freshman
Caroline McCoy recorded a team best 22 digs.
