NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 24, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team finished the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season undefeated for the fifth consecutive season after Sunday's 9-0 win over Johnson State.
The Chargers improved to 11-5 overall and clinched the top spot in the NAC with a 6-0 record. Colby-Sawyer is 28-0 in league matches since joining the NAC in 2012. The team will host non-conference opponent Gordon on Wednesday before heading to Castleton on Saturday to compete in the NAC semifinals. Johnson State ends its season at 0-13 and 0-6.
Prior to today's match, seniors
Julius Graefe (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Shawn Bissonette (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) were honored for their dedication to the Colby-Sawyer men's tennis program.
Dean Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) and
Ryan Sawyer (Edgartown, Mass.) finished their NAC doubles season with a 5-0 record after an 8-0 defeat of Cole Hennessy and Alex Pakatar at the top spot today. Bissonette and
Will Triebel (Duxbury, Mass.) also won by an 8-0 score at No. 2 over Connor Neathawk and Pedro Perez.
Andrew Peloquin (Greenville, R.I.) and Graefe made it a doubles sweep for the Chargers with an 8-1 win over Cory Nystrom and Richard Perez at No. 3.
Alex Wright wrapped up a perfect conference season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top singles flight. Sawyer and
Ryan Broderick (Londonderry, N.H.) did not drop a game in their No. 2 and No. 3 wins, respectively.
Bissonette dropped just one game in a straight sets victory at No. 4, while
Alex Townsend (Bangor, Maine) got a 6-0, 6-2 win over Pedro Perez at the fifth flight.
Julius Graefe gave the Chargers their ninth point of the afternoon by winning his No. 6 match 6-2, 6-2 over Richard Perez.
