NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 23, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team won its fifth straight match on Saturday after an 8-1 win over the visiting Spartans of Castleton University.

The Chargers improve to 10-5 overall and 5-0 in the NAC. Colby-Sawyer hosts Johnson State tomorrow to close out the conference schedule. Castleton drops to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the NAC. The Spartans play at MCLA on Sunday in their regular season finale.

Colby-Sawyer was in front 3-0 after sweeping doubles action. The Chargers' top duo of Gustav Jigrup and Andrew Peloquin teamed to hand Quentin Barthe and Soren Pelz-Walsh their first loss of the season, 8-4. Ryan Sawyer and Dean Boodakian moved to 4-0 in conference doubles play with an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Seth Marcil and Ryan Mulder. Colby-Sawyer made it a doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3 from Shawn Bissonette and Alex Wright over Andrew Overton and Tyler Wilcox.

Jigrup improved to 5-0 in NAC action at the top flight with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marcil.

Wright also stayed unbeaten in conference play by serving Pelz-Walsh, the six-time NAC Rookie of the Week, his first NAC loss of the year. Wright won 6-2 and 6-1.

Castleton got its lone point of the match at the third flight from Barthe. After dropping the first set 6-0, Barthe responded with a 7-6 (7-3), 10-5 triumph over Sawyer.

Boodakian won his No. 4 singles match over Overton. After a pair of closely played sets, Boodakian secured the win with a 10-0 super tie break in the third.  

Ryan Broderick edged Mulder 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5, while Peloquin cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 over Wilcox.
