NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 2, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team defeated Maine Maritime 17-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer evens its record to 4-4 overall and improves to 3-0 in the NAC. The Chargers travel to Castleton on Wednesday. Maine Maritime dips to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Mariners play at Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Wednesday evening.
The Chargers were led by senior
Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, N.H.). She scored five goals and added three ground balls. Sophomore
Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) added four goals, two assists, and seven draw controls. Junior
Stevie Klein (Malden, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate goal and finished with a hat-trick. Senior
Shannon Green (Canton, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Freshman Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) registered the lone goal for the Mariners. James played the first 23:07 in the field and then relieved freshman Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) in net for the remainder of the game. James made 11 saves, while Wilson stopped 10 shots.

Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) moved into a tie for third in career wins with 15 after making five saves in today's victory.
