KEENE, N.H. - March 8, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team fell at Keene State, 15-5 in a 2016 season opener on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers will travel to Worcester State this Saturday before embarking on a spring break trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico next week to play a pair of games. Keene State improves to 1-2 and will head to Bradenton, Fla. next week to play twice.
Sophomore
Nicole Lavigne led the Chargers with three goals, while sophomore
Carli Chiodo and senior
Sara Berry added one apiece. Berry and Lavigne also collected three ground balls.
Meghan Castellano made 11 stops in goal.
Keene was led by Kaitlin Nolan and Jenna Bellano who each scored three times. Taylor Graf tallied a team best four helpers. Anna O'Brien got the win in goal and made two saves.
Colby-Sawyer fell behind 8-0 before Lavigne notched two straight for the Chargers. The Owls would get three back and take an 11-2 lead into the break. Keene scored four times in the second, while Colby-Sawyer added three goals to make the final 15-5 in favor of the home team.
