CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell at MIT 7-2, in non-conference action inside the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble on Friday.

In doubles action, the Engineers (3-2) claimed all three positions for the early 3-0 advantage over the Chargers (2-2). Freshman Sean Ko (Danville, Calif.) and classmate Tyler Barr (Auburn Township, Ohio) teamed up for a close 9-7 decision at No. 1 doubles over sophomore Gustav Jigrup (Vastra Frolunda, Sweden) and junior Cass McCann (Edmonton, Canada). 

MIT also picked up a pair of wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by identical 8-2 scores. 

The Cardinal and Gray took four of the six singles points securing the match for MIT. After falling at No. 1 singles, Engineers senior Dennis Garcia (Corpus Christi, Texas) picked up the first point at the No. 2 position with a 6-4, 6-2 straight sets win over freshman Alex Wright (St. Austell, England). Freshman Henry La Soya (Los Angeles, Calif.) followed for MIT with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over McCann, senior Jeffrey Bu (Arcadia, Calif.) won his match 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 over Ross Kenney (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and junior Kristopher Bronner (Brookline, Mass.) defeated sophomore Andy Peloquin (Greenville, R.I.), 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5.

At No. 1 singles, Jigrup edged Gea in a tiebreaking third set, 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 to give the Chargers a point. Colby-Sawyer registered their second singles match at the No. 6 position as junior Ryan Sawyer (Edgartown, Mass.) bested senior Robbie Shaw (San Diego, Calif.), 6-2, 6-4.

MIT (3-2) returns to action tomorrow afternoon at Bates College for a 1:00 p.m. start, while Colby-Sawyer (2-2) is off until next Saturday, March 12 when the Chargers head to Siena College at 5:00 p.m. --Courtesy of MIT--
