WATERVILLE, Maine - March 26, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win at Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division opener for both teams.
The Chargers improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The team will host NAC foe MCLA next Saturday at 1 p.m. Thomas drops to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the NAC.
Gustav Jigrup and
Andrew Peloquin were tested at No. 1 doubles but came away with an 8-6 victory, while the No. 2 duo of
Ryan Sawyer and
Dean Boodakian and No. 3 team of
Alex Wright and
Ross Kenney each won matches by the score of 8-2.
Jigrup dropped just two games in a straight sets victory at the top singles flight. Wright and Sawyer also won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Boodakian took his first set 6-3 and then put away his No. 4 match by not dropping a game in the second set. Peloquin's win at No. 6 mirrored Jigrup with a 6-1, 6-1 result.
