HANOVER, N.H. - March 23, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team played its second straight match against a team from Division II as they welcomed Bentley University to the Boss Tennis Center on Wednesday evening. The Falcons came away with a 5-3 victory after a nearly six hour match.
The Chargers even their record to 4-4 and will travel to Maine this weekend for matches at Southern Maine and Thomas College. Three of the Chargers' matches this spring have come against non-Division III teams. Bentley of the Northeast-10 Conference improves to 9-3.
The No. 2 doubles duo of
Gustav Jigrup and
Andrew Peloquin got the Chargers in the point column by winning their match 8-4 over Michael Fuca and Dylan Granat.
Trailing 2-1 entering singles play, the Chargers kept the match close by winning at No. 1 and No. 5. Jigrup cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at the top flight, while
Dean Boodakian defeated Jerry Liang 7-6 (5), 6-3 at No. 5.
Bentley won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 to clinch the match 5-3.
Ryan Broderick was in a marathon match against Daniel Camacho at No. 6 when the match was called after nearly six hours. Broderick took the first set 7-5, but Camacho evened the match with a 7-6 win in the second set after a 9-7 tie break.
