LEESBURG, Fla. - March 18, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Friday against Springfield College. The Pride took game one 9-1 and game two 6-0.
The Chargers conclude their 10-game spring break trip to central Florida with a 6-4 record.
GAME ONE - Springfield 9, Colby-Sawyer 1Springfield opened the scoring with four unearned runs in the top of the third. Colby-Sawyer got its lone run in the bottom half of the inning on a
Drew Inglesi RBI single, but the Pride scored four more in the top of the fourth and one in the sixth to secure the 9-1 win.
Justin Devoid continued his hot start at the plate with two more hits in three at-bats this afternoon.
Jeff Dunn,
Andrew Pratt and Inglesi accounted for the three other Charger knocks.
Connor Henry was saddled with the loss.
GAME TWO - Springfield 6, Colby-Sawyer 0Springfield scored four times in the second and twice in the fifth to earn the sweep.
Jeff Dunn went 2-for-2, while
Jackson Musco and
Tim Donovan also got into the hit column.
Mike Peters tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, while
Joe Scurto threw a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
