POULTNEY, Vt. – November 30, 2016 - Freshman
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) led Colby-Sawyer with 16 points and nine assists and all Chargers players in the game scored as the visitors easily cruised past Green Mountain College, 100-22, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at the Eagle Dome.
The Chargers scored 100 points for the 10th time in program history and first time since December 7, 2013 in a win at Green Mountain.
Colby-Sawyer (4-1; 1-0 NAC) sped out to a quick lead scoring eight straight points split between
Lexi Iannone and
Kristin Ellis. The Eagles were able to briefly put an end to the run as Rachel Moore hit a running layup, but the Chargers would close the quarter on a 13-3 run to take a commanding 21-5 lead into the second quarter.
The Chargers proved to be too much to handle all night sprinting out on the break and getting plenty of fast-break opportunities, but also showing why in the early part of the schedule they are ranked second in the conference in three pointers made. The team shot 10-of-19 (52.9 percent) from beyond the arc led by Hamilton's 4-of-5 performance from deep.
The visitors spread the offense all the way down through its reserves as they posted at least 20 points in each quarter with a game-high 34 points in the second period.
In addition to Hamilton's game-high 16 points, Ellis contributed 12 points and five boards, while
Amanda Calvo popped off the bench to score nine.
Emmani Robinson and
Tianna Sugars each collected five rebounds while
Chelsea Dow notched four steals.
Green Mountain (0-2; 0-1 NAC) was led by Moore who scored seven points. Mercedes Rideout contributed six points, while Suzanna Moses and Tyah Culp each grabbed four rebounds.
Green Mountain will head to Maine for the weekend to match up against Thomas on Friday and UMF on Saturday. Colby-Sawyer hosts Lyndon on Saturday.
