NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 1, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team improved to 6-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division after a 9-0 victory over Husson University on Saturday.
The Chargers have won eight straight and improved to 9-1. Colby-Sawyer will play its conference regular season finale tomorrow against Thomas. Husson drops to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Eagles play at MCLA tomorrow morning.
Ashley Woodside and
Maddy Gemerek teamed at the top doubles spot for an 8-0 sweep of Meridth Blessard and Katie Pratt.
Evelyn Miller and
Aislinn O'Connor cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles over Charlotte Bednarz and Sarah Smith.
Lauren Blanchard and
Michelle Lopes gave Colby-Sawyer its third point with an 8-4 triumph over Kelsey Pelletier and Marisa Brown.
Woodside and Miller won at the top two flights to secure the victory for the Chargers. Gemerek, O'Connor, Blanchard and
Christine Hill each had singles wins, playing one 8-game pro set.
