WESTON, Mass. - January 16, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming team split with Regis and Simmons on Saturday at the Regis Athletic Complex.
RESULTSThe Chargers earned a 129-123 victory over the hosts, but fell to Simmons 190-69.
Makenzie Welch turned in several great swims throughout the day to lead the Chargers. She won the 200 IM in a time of 2:26.34 more than three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also collected a pair of second place finishes. In the 100 backstroke, Welch touched the wall in 1:04.48 to place second behind a competitor from Regis, but was in front of all of the Simmons swimmers. She also placed second in the 50 backstroke at 30.58, while teammate
Elaine Miller was close behind in third place at 31.22.
Miller was second in the 100 freestyle behind a Simmons swimmer, but clocked in at 56.60 to finish ahead of the Regis swimmers.
Anna Zdziarski finished third in the 50 butterfly in 30.79.

Alex Dumont teamed to come away with a second place finish behind Simmons in the 200 medley relay in a combined time of 2:03.57.
