POULTNEY, Vt. - January 16, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team received points from 12 different players and cruised to an 81-50 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road victory at Green Mountain on Saturday evening at the Eagle Dome.
The Chargers improve to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the NAC. Colby-Sawyer will return home on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Lyndon. Green Mountain drops to 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the conference.
Colby-Sawyer utilized its second chance opportunities to great effect in the opening half by registering 11 second chance points. The team also lived in the paint outscoring the Eagles 30-2 down low with the Eagles content to fire from outside.
On the strength of
Lexi Iannone's 12 first half points, the Chargers entered the break with a 40-23 lead.
The Eagles were able to chip the visitor's lead down to 14 points after a Mercedes Rideout three-pointer cut the deficit to 54-40 midway through the third quarter. However, the Chargers would outscore the hosts 21-8 in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Amanda Calvo had a team-high 13 points for the Chargers while Iannone followed closely with 12 points.
Jessica Shenkel and
Marquis MacGlashing each had ten points while
Kristin Ellis topped the team in rebounds with nine in addition to her eight points.
Rideout led all scorers with 14 points thanks in large part to a 4-of-8 mark from beyond the arc. Sherelle Jackson contributed 12 points, while Maddy Postnikoff added 10 points and six rebounds.
