NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 26, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis team swept Lyndon, 9-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division action on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer pushes its win streak to six straight and improves to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the NEAC East. The Chargers travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Nichols tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Lyndon drops to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Hornets host Castleton on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn.) and
Ashley Woodside (Hampden, Maine) defeated Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine) and Carina Alden (New Marlborough, Mass.), 8-1 at the top doubles flight.
The No. 2 doubles duo of
Aislinn O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn.) and
Evelyn Miller (Smithfield, R.I.) also won 8-1 over Alexandria Maynard (East Hampton, Conn.) and Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.).
Marissa Ulmer (Windham, Maine) teamed with
Conley Dion (Falmouth, Maine) at third doubles for an 8-1 win over Stephanie Burke (Claremont, N.H.) and Greta Larson (Williamsville, Vt.).
Ramsay, Woodside and Blanchard won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively, without dropping a game, while O'Connor won 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3.
Hilary Boucher (Presque Isle, Maine) came away with a 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 in her first collegiate match, while
Michelle Lopes (West Hartford, Conn.) also won her first match 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth spot.
