Women's Volleyball Drops Two Matches at Granite State Challenge

KEENE, N.H. - September 12, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team dropped two matches on the final day of the 2015 Granite State Challenge. The Chargers fell to today's host Keene State 3-0 and Rivier 3-2. 

Colby-Sawyer will play Rivier again on Wednesday evening in Nashua for a 7:00 p.m. first serve. 

The Owls protected home court with a 3-0 win by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-14 in the day's first match. Alli Lahiff hit .400 with five kills and three blocks. Kelsey Sullivan had a team-high nine kills, while Kelsey McCulley and Gabrielle Rodriguez had eight apiece. Laura Smolinski tallied a match best 28 assists. 

Colby-Sawyer and Rivier played a five set match with the Raiders coming away with the 3-2 victory by scores of 20-25, 25-20, 25-15, 22-25, 15-8. 

The Chargers won the first set behind .371 hitting, but could not get over .184 for the remaining four sets. Rivier took the final set thanks to nine kills and zero errors. 

Kelsey McCulley led all players with 15 killsand added 14 digs. Kelsey Sullivan also reached double figures with 14 kills. Laura Smolinski added a double-double of 41 assists and 12 digs, while Gabrielle Rodriguez just missed on with 10 digs and nine kills.
