LEICESTER, Mass. - April 11, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team pushed its win streak to three straight with Saturday's 15-7 victory at Becker College.
The Chargers improve to 6-5 and will resume North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. road match at Johnson. Becker drops to 6-7.
Colby-Sawyer was led by freshman
Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) with four goals and an assist. A pair of Chargers each potted four points, senior
Carly Baker (Beverly, Mass.) tossed in three goals and a helper while junior
Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, NH) added two goals and two assists.
Junior Victoria Belcher (Seekonk, Mass.) paced the Lady Hawks with two goals while juniors Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, NY) and Rachel Welling(Charlestown, NH) accounted for the other two goals.The Chargers sprinted to a quick 4-1 lead; however the Hawks would answer with back-to-back goals from Belcher and Fahs to cut the deficit to 4-3 midway through the first half. Colby-Sawyer scored the next two goals and Becker would answer with a pair to push the scoreboard to 6-5 Chargers with 6:37 remaining. Sophomore
Paige Prokop (Woburn, Mass.) and junior
Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, Maine) would propel Colby-Sawyer to an 8-5 advantage heading into intermission.
Colby-Sawyer outscored Becker 7-2 in the second half to pull away for the 15-7 final.
Becker netminder Karena Prescott (New Bedford, Mass.) stopped 13 shots in the loss, while her counterpart
Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) posted 11 saves in the victory for the Chargers.
