Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight; Defeats NEC 89-56

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – February 14, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team won its fifth straight game with an 89-56 victory at New England College on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.

With the win the Charges improve to 16-5 overall and 14-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 12-11 on the season and 9-7 in the NAC.
 
NEC jumped out to an early 7-2 lead but the lead would be short lived as Colby-Sawyer tied the score at 7-7 five minutes into the game. The two teams continued to battle back-and-forth through the following five minutes before the Chargers exploded using a 20-4 run to go up 14 with 7:07 on the clock. Colby-Sawyer would continue to dominate much of the play in the remainder of the half as they finished the half out rebounding the Pilgrims 25-16 and shooting 46% from the field to head into halftime up 49-22.
 
The Pilgrims cut the lead to 26 early in the second half but that is as close as they would get as the Chargers would cruise to the 89-56 victory. Colby-Sawyer finished the game with 51-37 advantage on the boards and shot an impressive 45.6% from the field for the game.
 
Leading the way for Colby-Sawyer was Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) who led all scorers finishing with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Colby-Sawyer's Zach Bean (Scarborough, Maine) chipped in 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting, while Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. 
 
Leading the way for NEC was Jonathan Byrnes (Bethel, Conn.) who finished with a team-high 18 points.  NEC's Dezron Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) finished the game with a double-double recording 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
NEC will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 19 when they travel to battle conference opponent Johnson State College. Colby-Sawyer will hit the court again on Thursday, Feb. 19 as well when they travel to take on conference foe Lyndon State College.
