FARMINGTON, Maine - January 9, 2015 - Colby-Sawyer senior
Kelsey Cahill (Cumberland, R.I.) scored a game best 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the women's basketball team to an impressive 74-45 victory at the University of Maine-Farmington on Friday evening.
The Chargers improve to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Colby-Sawyer remains in Maine tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Thomas College. UMF falls to 4-7 overall and suffers its first NAC loss to drop to 4-1. The Beavers host New England College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer held the Beavers to 26.9% (14-52) shooting from the floor in and dominated on the glass, outrebounding UMF 52-35. The Chargers also got a lot of easy looks down low and outscored UMF, 36-12, in the paint. Colby-Sawyer shot 40.3% (29-72) from the field and 27.8% (5-18) from long range.
Cahill led three players in double figures with 16 points. She added three assists and a game best four thefts.
Lexi Iannone shot 5-of-11 from the floor for 15 points, while
Jessica Shenkel added 10 points.
Kristin Ellis grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with six points and four assists.
Alyssa Keefe helped the Chargers on the boards with eight rebounds.
Senior Lindsay Ranquist led the Beavers with nine points and one assist. Kelly Pomerleau added seven points and a near perfect 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
