NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 27, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division with a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon at the Kelsey Tennis Courts.
Colby-Sawyer swept Lyndon State, 9-0 in the first match of the afternoon and followed with a 9-0 victory over Green Mountain. The Chargers improve to 5-3 overall and will host Roger Williams at noon tomorrow. Lyndon drops to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the NEAC, while the Eagles drop to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play in their first varsity season.

Ashlyn Ramsay and
Ashley Woodside and the No. 2 doubles team of
Oxana Tkachenko and
Sam White each won 8-1, while
Christine Hill and
Ellen Graham teamed for an 8-3 victory over Stephanie Burke and Alexa Richard at No. 3 doubles.
Ramsay and Tkachenko did not drop a game at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Woodside won in straight sets and dropped just one game, while
Lauren Blanchard, Graham, and
Julia Varney cruised to straight set victories at the fourth, fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
Colby-Sawyer 9, Green Mountain 0Ramsay continued to have an impressive afternoon with another straight sets victory without dropping a game at No. 1 singles against Green Mountain.
Sam White,
Christine Hill and
Marissa Ulmer each won their singles matches in the second, third and fourth slots, 6-1, 6-1.
Conley Dion picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Katherine Hansberry in the closest match of the afternoon. Colby-Sawyer's
Abbie Rix took the sixth flight 6-0, 6-0.
All of the Colby-Sawyer doubles teams won via an 8-0 score. Ramsay and Woodside teamed for a win at No. 1, while
Oxana Tkachenko and White won at No. 2 and
Lauren Blanchard took the No. 3 match with teammate
Ellen Graham.
