Senior Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, Mass.) gave the Beacons a 1-0 lead four minutes into the first frame. After her first shot was saved but not controlled by Colby-Sawyer keeper
Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.), Ledin stayed with the play and scored on her second attempt.
Four minutes later, senior Ericka Garufi (Milton, Mass.) dribbled into the left side of the box and chipped a pass back to her oncoming teammate. Freshman Marina Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) took a couple of steps before scoring into the opposite corner of the net.

UMass Boston added a fourth goal in the 50th minute on a long shot from 25 yards. Marina Kelly seemed to be bottled up by the Colby-Sawyer back line, but tried the long shot and was able to place the ball into the upper right corner just out of the reach of the goalie. The goal was Kelly's second of the game and third of the season.
Beacons senior goalie Dani Perkins (Murrieta, Calif.) made five saves to earn the shutout and first win of the season. Hamilton had eight stops for the Chargers.
