Box Score

NASHUA, N.H. - September 17, 2014 - Senior Alex Ortega (Milton, Vt.) converted on a penalty kick at 83:01 to lift the Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory at Rivier on Wednesday evening.

The Chargers improve to 3-2-1 and will open North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday at Husson. Rivier drops to 1-3 and will play at Emmanuel on Saturday.

The lone goal came in the 84th minute when a foul inside the Rivier box allowed Colby-Sawyer a penalty shot in which Alex Ortega capitalized to give the visitors the 1-0 advantage. That was the only shot to get past Rivier's sophomore goalkeeper Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) who finished the evening with 11 saves.

Ortega now has 20 career goals, which is ninth all-time and moves into eighth all-time with 52 career points.

Colby-Sawyer's Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I.) stopped all three shots he faced on net.

The Chargers held a 16-7 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
