Box Score KEENE, N.H. - September 13, 2014 -The Keene State College women's soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Colby-Sawyer College in a non-conference game at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
The Owls, who had played five straight games away from home to open the season, are now 3-3. Â The Chargers fall to 1-4.
The Owls struck first in the 12th minute. Brittany Tolla swept in a low cross to Taylor Farland, whose shot was initially saved by Colby-Sawyer goalie
Karley Hamilton, but Ellen Granata was on hand to pop in the rebound for her first goal of the season.
Keene State continued to attack, as Farland forced a save out of Hamilton in the 19th minute, and the Owls were awarded a penalty in the 26th minute when Alex Haley was taken down in the box, but Beverly Cole placed her shot wide.
The second half was more evenly matched, but the Owls doubled their advantage in the 67th minute. Tolla was again the provider, lofting a ball behind the Colby-Sawyer defense that Farland controlled with one touch before firing her fourth of the season past Hamilton.Â
That goal would prove to be the game winner - Colby-Sawyer pulled one back with seven minutes left in the game through
Lizzie Jorgensen off a feed from
Rachel Quaye, but could not find an equalizer in the dying moments.
Torrie Crenson made two saves in the KSC net, while Hamilton made seven stops for the Chargers.
Keene State remains at home on Wednesday, September 17, hosting Clark University (MA) for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Â Colby-Sawyer will welcome UMass-Boston for a 3:30 start on the same day.
