#27 MIT Blanks Men's Tennis, 9-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - March 6, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team began its spring portion of the 2013-14 season with a tough 9-0 loss to 27th ranked MIT on Thursday evening. 

The Chargers fall to 3-2 and will head to the sunshine state next week for a slew of games against teams from around the nation. MIT improves to 4-1 and will play at Bates next Friday. 

Colby-Sawyer's best chance to take a point of the Engineers was at No. 1 doubles. Nathan Taschereau and Myles Utell kept the match close but fell 8-6 to Edwin Zhang and Curtis Wu. Eugene Oh and Kevin Wang swept the No. 2 duo of Justin Pinard and Cass McCann. Kenny Gea and Mosley Andrews also did not drop a point at No. 3 doubles over Colby-Sawyer's Sergio Spassof and Dean Boodakian

The Engineers carried the impressive play into the singles matches. Zhang dispatched Taschereau 6-1, 6-2 at the top flight. Wang then downed Utell at No. 2 6-1, 6-3. Garcia got by McCann 6-0, 6-1 in the third slot, while Oh also won in straight sets over Spassof at No. 4. Wu dropped a game in each set, but cruised to the 6-1, 6-1 victory over Boodakian at No. 5. At the sixth flight, Jeffrey Sperling defeated Ryan Sawyer of the Chargers 6-0, 6-2.
