HANOVER, N.H. - March 19, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell to Division II foe Southern New Hampshire University, 8-1 at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth College, Wednesday evening.
The Chargers fall to 5-6 this season and will begin a stretch of four consecutive road matches on Saturday, March 29 at Thomas College. The match with the Terriers also marks the start of North Atlantic Conference play. The Penmen improve to 12-2 this season.
Colby-Sawyer's lone point came from a 2-1 victory at No. 2 singles by
Myles Utell. After dropping the first set 6-3, Utell rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second to tie the match 1-1. He was able to take the match with a hard fought 10-8 triumph in the third set.
Ryan Sawyer and Matt Plouffe forced a tie-break at third doubles against Evan Eaton and Mark Dobek, but fell 9-8 (7-3).
