Kelsey Cahill (Cumberland, R.I.) became the 14th women's basketball player in program history to reach 1000 career points. Skidmore came away with a 61-48 victory as the teams played on the first day of the San Juan Shootout.
Skidmore improves to 3-4 on the season, while Colby-Sawyer drops to 5-3. The Chargers will play Edgewood tomorrow evening at 8:00 p.m. local time (7ET), while Skidmore plays Marietta at 6:00 p.m. (5ET).
The achievement for Cahill came at the 5:02 mark in the second half when she scored on a layup to give her points 999 and 1000.
Cahill finished with a team best 15 points and added nine rebounds. Sophomore
Kristin Ellis scored nine points and grabbed a career-high 10 boards. Junior
Jessica Shenkel contributed nine points.
Skidmore was led by an 18-point, 11-rebound effort from Angela Botiba. Migle Vilunaite had eight points and a game best 13 rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.
The Thoroughbreds raced out to a 9-2 advantage in the first four minutes of action. Colby-Sawyer responded with an 11-2 run thanks to six straight points by sophomore

Kelsey Cahill. The half remained close throughout the final 10 minutes with neither team leading by more than four. Skidmore went into the locker room with a 28-25 advantage after ending the frame with a 4-1 run.
Skidmore shot 41.4% in the first 20 minutes, while holding the Chargers to 25.8% from the floor.
Colby-Sawyer was held to 23.8% from the floor for the game and made just one of 10 attempts from beyond the arc.
The Thoroughbreds held a 59-37 edge on the glass.
