Bill Foti Gets 400th Win as Chargers Defeat Lyndon, 75-56

NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 13, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team received double figures from five different players in Saturday's 75-56 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Lyndon State.

The win gives Head Coach Bill Foti his 400th career victory. Foti is in his 23rd season with the Chargers.

Colby-Sawyer ends the first semester with a 5-3 overall record and a 3-0 record in the NAC. The Chargers resume action on January 6 at Castleton. Lyndon finishes 2014 with a 2-7 overall record and a 1-4 mark in conference play. The Hornets host Plymouth State on January 8.

The visitors raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes of the contest on four points from senior George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) and a trey by senior Robert Alers (Central Falls, R.I.). The Chargers slowly clawed back and after six straight points from junior Peter Donato (Portland, Maine), Colby-Sawyer held its first lead at 13-12. With the Chargers trailing 22-21 with 8:33 remaining in the first half, senior Kyle Nelson (Milford, N.H.) was inserted into the lineup. Nelson made three straight three-pointers on consecutive trips for the Chargers to give them a 30-24 lead. He added two more makes in the next two minutes to help break the game open at 38-24. Colby-Sawyer finished the half on an 8-0 run capped by a Koang Thok (Portland, Maine) layup to take a 46-26 lead into the break.

The second half was evenly played as the teams traded baskets throughout. Colby-Sawyer held a comfortable double digit lead for the entire half and did not all Lyndon to get closer than 14 points.

Junior Jake Maynard (Shelburne, Vt.) recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards. Koang Thok was the fifth Charger to reach double figures with 10 points.
