LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - October 25, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team completed its fourth straight undefeated season in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with a pair of 3-0 victories over Lyndon and Johnson State this afternoon.
The Chargers, who were ranked 11th in the most recent New England regional rankings, improve to 23-8 overall and finish 6-0 in the NAC.
Colby-Sawyer began the day with a 3-0 victory over Lyndon with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-12. The team hit an impressive .343, while holding the Hornets to .000.
Stephanie Vecchio tied a career-high with 17 kills and hit .438.
Gabrielle Rodriguez also reached double figure kills with 10 and hit .364.
Kelsey Sullivan hit .500 to record seven kills and added three solo blocks.
Laura Smolinski collected a double-double of 30 assists and 11 digs.
Jackie Keating added eight kills and 10 digs in the win.
The Chargers finished the day off with a 3-0 sweep of Johnson State by scores of 25-7, 25-17 and 25-4. The offense was clicking once again and increased its hitting percentage from the Lyndon match to .387.
Alli Lahiff and
Kelsey McCulley each hit .571 and had five kills.
Kacie Lane added five kills, while
Gabrielle Rodriguez led all players with eight kills.
Colby-Sawyer has run the table in all four years the program has competed in the NAC. The Chargers went 7-0 in 2011 and 2012 and have gone 6-0 in 2013 and this season. Colby-Sawyer has dropped just two sets in that span and have won six straight NAC tournament matches. This year's postseason tournament pairings will be released shortly.
