NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 22, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team celebrated the wonderful four-year careers of seniors
Sarah Hannon (North Falmouth, Mass.),
Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) and
Stephanie Vecchio (Shelter Island, N.Y.) with a 3-0 win over the Cadets of Norwich on Wednesday evening. The Chargers won by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 26-24.
Colby-Sawyer has won five straight matches and improved to 21-8. The Chargers travel to Vermont on Saturday for North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matches against Lyndon and Johnson. Norwich pulls even at 11-11 on the season and will play Rivier and Albertus Magnus in New Haven, Connecticut on Saturday.
Colby-Sawyer was led by senior
Jackie Keating's 16 kills.
Stephanie Vecchio also reached double figure kills with 10 and hit .400. Vecchio added seven digs and a match best five aces.
Junior
Laura Smolinski (Hebron, Conn.) became the program's third setter to reach 3,000 career assists after recording 32 this evening.
Norwich was led by a six-kill, 15-dig performance from freshman Alma Turpin (Sterling, Va.). Junior Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) added five kills and a match-high three block assists.
