Volleyball Reaches 20 Wins for 16th Time in Program History

KEENE, N.H. - October 21, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team avenged an early season loss at home to Keene by beating the Owls 3-1 at Spaulding Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

In similar fashion to the September 19 meeting in which Keene dropped the first set and won the next three, Colby-Sawyer did the same this evening. Keene took the first set 25-22, but the Chargers rallied to win the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19.

The Chargers improve to 20-8 on the season, which gives the program its 16th season with at least 20 wins and is the 11th time in the past 12 seasons that Colby-Sawyer has reached 20 victories. The Chargers will host Norwich on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. for their final regular season home match of the season.

Colby-Sawyer had three players reach double figure kills and three with double digit dig totals. Stephanie Vecchio recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 17 digs. Gabrielle Rodriguez hit .231 and had 10 kills while Jackie Keating added 10 kills and 14 digs. Lexi Strong collected 15 digs and four service aces to go with Laura Smolinski's match-high 44 assists.

The Owls were led by Angela Siveri's double-double of 11 kills and 22 digs. Brooke Bell and Alexis Michal combined for 31 assists while teammate Leslie Hearns registered 14 digs. Rachel Lamica added seven kills and eight digs.
